The debt ceiling should ONLY be raised IF accompanied by a Constitutional Amendment that states that each budget shall be balanced. In other words, let's not raise the debt ceiling & then keep racking up new debt! That would just be kicking the can down the road. Otherwise, I say don't raise it & let the Federal Government shutdown! We'd save money anyway.
And why are members of Congress talking about only cutting discretionary spending?
That doesn't include such wonderful, unconstitutional programs such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. nor defense spending. I say we not only cut "Entitlements"; I say we abolish them!
